The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 musical comedy horror film adaption of the original stage show conceived by Richard O'Brien in 1973 for which he was also responsible for the music and lyrics. An extravaganza of kitch, camp and gore, all done with a huge dose of comedic frivolity as per O'briens love of sience fiction and B horror films from the 1930's to the 50's. The film holds the record for the longest running theatrical release, some 49 years after it's premier, way back in 1975. Amongst the cast were leads Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and supported by Richard O'Brien, Patricia Quinn, Little Nell Campbell, Peter Hinwood and the late great Meatloaf.
