'HUSH....HUSH, SWEET CHARLOTTE' 1964 UK QUAD ORIGINAL FILM POSTER

£250.00

‘Hush….Hush, Sweet Charlotte’ is a psychological thriller-chiller horror film intended as the follow up to ‘Whatever Happened To Baby Jane’ and to reunite Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Very early on in the production Joan was ‘let go’….officially due to illness, but many say most probably due to being too difficult off the back of the huge success of ‘Baby Jane’ and Bette receiving most of if not all of the plaudits for that film. Joan’s part was recast and at the suggestion of Bette, Olivia De Havilland got the part. As Bette remarked, ‘just like the good old days at Warner Bros.’ where Bette, Olivia and Mary Astor (all friends) spent their formative years under contract to that studio. By 1964 both Olivia and Mary had to be persuaded by producer/ director Robert Aldrich to take on their roles and it was only the chance to work with Bette again that was given as the reason they agreed to take part.

Joining Bette Davis and Olivia De Havilland in the cast list were other gold era friends; Joseph Cotton, Mary Astor (in her last film role) and Agnes Moorhead, and further supported by George Kennedy, Bruce Dern, Cecil Kelloway and Victor Buono. The beautifully atmospheric poster, given the films psychological theme, is masterfully designed by Tom Chantrell with the two main stars featured.
